“The MA Design Class of 2020 spans product, jewellery, furniture, ceramics and textile design, each combining hands-on craft skills and digital fabrication while engaging with contemporary forward-thinking issues.
Our students engage with innovative material development: finding new directions for lacemaking in product design; new ceramic glazes highlighting issues around ocean acidification; and systems for growing and integrating algae into creative practice; from narrative sculpture to tableware that re-imagines the future of the fine dining experience; from jewellery and drinking vessels with bespoke grip handles to a tactile Shiatsu mapped chair.
Completing this exciting range of work during a global pandemic highlights the resilience and professionalism of this group of designers – and we wish them all the best in their creative futures.”
