The Round Creatures that these women are sitting on are actually flat, rather than spherical, and both seem quite happy with their unusual arrangement. The first rider is perched sideways on the ridge of her creature’s topline, and she is looking backwards towards the second pair, who are just arriving.  Sometimes it can seem necessary to wait for another part of the self to catch up in order to be able to proceed together as a whole.  The creatures have very long tails with which to balance themselves.
