Rocking-Horse Rider III is the fourth in a series of four Rocking-Horse Riders who are having a race. He has rocked himself to the absolute limit of his rocker, to the point when he will either rock back downwards, or tip over forwards completely. He is either enthusiastically reaching the limit of what can be achieved, or recklessly ignoring the danger.
There is some irony to this series, because however hard they rock the riders will, of course, be staying in the same place because, by their nature, rocking-horses don’t actually go anywhere… Although still on one spot, this rider is very much at the heart of movement.
